WHAT WE DO ETHIOPIA RELIEF EFFORT

ETHIOPIA:
“The Stench of Death Was Everywhere”

Over 2.18 million people now need emergency assistance to survive. Because of the effect that water shortages have had on crops and pastureland, Ethiopia has requested assistance to meet the nutritional needs of people in six of the country’s nine states.

UNICEF estimates six million Ethiopian children under the age of five are at risk of malnutrition and more than 120,000 have only about a month to live.

This crisis has escalated because of the increased global demand for food and the dramatic increase in food prices. Due to this, many agencies have been forced to cut aid projects to suffering countries like Ethiopia.

Thanks to your compassion, Children’s Hunger Relief Fund (CHRF) was able to deliver 27 tons of food aid to Ethiopia in May. Our team witnessed firsthand the heartbreaking situation. Thousands of mothers were begging for help. Frail children desperately needed food and medical attention.

One of our team members said that of all the years he had been traveling to Ethiopia, he had never seen so many malnourished children in such poor shape. The stench of death was everywhere.

With your help, CHRF will be making another relief trip soon to continue providing aid to these starving children.
